Obituary: Alice (Kidd) Pierce, Age 81 Source: The Daily Progress, Tuesday, November 11, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Alice Kidd Pierce, 81, of Thomas Nelson Highway, Lovingston died peacefully Monday morning November 10, 2003, at her residence. Born Sept. 30, 1922, in Nelson County she was a daughter of the late Joseph Kidd and Virtie Thompson Kidd. She was preceded in death by her first husband Harry T. Bradley in 1960, and is survived by her present husband W. Franklin Pierce. She was also preceded in death by one brother Joseph A. Kidd. Alice was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston, a retired Textile Worker at Uniroyal of Scottsville with over 30 years of service and was noted in the community for her excellent cooking talent. Besides her husband Franklin she is survived by two sisters, Frances K. Harding and Virginia K. Thompson both of Lovingston, four nieces and nephews Deloris H. Blondino, Clara T. Fortune, George (Eddie) Kidd and David L. Thompson; along with seven great-nieces and nephews and two great-great-nephews. A funeral service will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston with Rev. John P. Campbell officiating with Interment in Ridgecrest Cemetery. The family will receive friends today from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that memorials take the form of donations to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 264, Lovingston, Va. 22949 or Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mt. Pl. Charlottesville, Va. 22911. The family wishes to thank the staff of the Piedmont Hospice for their wonderful, kind and caring assistance during this time in their lives.
