Obituary: Calvin C. Quick, 1984 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow -------------------------------------------------------------- Calvin C. Quick, 60, of 2434 Mt. Vernon St., died Sunday afternoon (Oct. 28, 1984) in the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Nelson County April 4, 1924, a son of the late Robert George and Etta (Campbell) Quick. Mr. Quick was a member of the Central Point Christian Church. He retired as a purchasing agent in 1981 from Waynesboro DuPont Plant after 41 years of service. He was a World War II veteran. Survivors include his widow; Mrs. Mattie (Davis) Quick; three daughters, Mrs. Frank (Gloria) Deckert of Anchorage, Alaska, and Ms. Barbara Ann Quick and Mrs. Steve (Debbie) Humphreys, both of Waynesboro; four sisters, Mrs. Randoph P. (Dawn) Kent of Waynesboro, Mrs. G. Lawson (Helen) Wood and Mrs. L. M. (Elizabeth) Irvine, both of Afton; Mrs. Ernest (Bluma) Snell of Charlottesville; four grandchildren, Christopher Deckert, Alisa Deckert, Jason Deckert and Travis Humphreys, and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by five brothers and two sisters. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday in the Waynesboro Chapel of Etter Funeral Home by the Rev. Dickie Bolton, with burial in Augusta Memorial Park. Active pallbearers will be Henry Moffett, Edward Thomas, John Huffman, Wayne Ferguson, Robert Willis, Paul Sager, George Horn and S. B. Kiger. Honorary pallbearers will be Lewis Bagby, Wilbur Fox, Clark Jordon, Dr. B. K. Weems, Sam Steele, Francis Brower and Bill Hagwood. The family requests that memorial contributions be made to the Waynesboro First Aid Crew.
