Obituary: Daisy Beatrice Ragland, Age 88 Source: The Daily Progress, Thursday, November 13, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Daisy Beatrice Ragland 88 of Lovingston died Tuesday November 11, 2003, at the Lovingston Health Care Center. Born Oct. 25, 1915, in Buckingham Co. she was a daughter of the late Charles Lightfoot Ragland and Lelia Poe Ragland. She was preceded in death by her husband Otha Morris Ragland Sr. in 1993; and two daughters Julia Lorene and Grace Marie; and also three brothers Charles Tucker, John William and Albert Earl; and one sister Sadie Palmer. Daisy was a member of Maple Grove Pentecostal Holiness Church at Buckingham. She is survived by her daughters, Nancy Grant and Minnie Ragland both of Shipman, Helen Bryant of Richmond, Betty Parrish of Melbourne, Fla., Fleta Chisholm of Rustburg, Barbara Sowell of Concord and Carol Staton of Lynchburg; her sons, Charles Ragland of Bedford, Melvin Ragland and Otha Ragland Jr. both of Shipman, Earl Ragland of Erwin, Tenn. and Prentice Ragland of Charlottesville; one brother Robert (Bobby) Ragland of Richmond; four sisters Katherine Donald of Scottsville, Christine Ragland of Buckingham, Frances Carlton and Louise Jones both of Richmond; along with 55 grandchildren; 108 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Rev. Harold Powers officiating with Interment in Maple Grove Cemetery in Buckingham Co. The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home and suggest that Memorials take the form of donations to Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mt. Pl.
