OBITUARY: ELBERT D. RAMSEY, 1989 SOURCE: unknown newspaper CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow ------------------------------------------------------ WAYNESBORO -- Elbert Dewey Ramsey, 65, of Route 1, Box 16, died Monday evening (May 29, 1989) in Waynesboro Community Hospital. He was born June 14, 1923, in Montebello, a son of Lillie C. Bradley of Waynesboro and the late Elmer D. Ramsey. He retired from Crompton Shenandoah Co. with 36 years of service and was a U .S. Army veteran of World War II. He attended the Church of God. In addition to his mother, survivors include his wife, June M. Ramsey; three sons, Roger D. of Fishersville, Larry K. of Waynesboro, and Mark G. Ramsey of Verona; a daughter, Sylvia Johnson of Tampa, Fla.; four half brothers, Edgar, Thurman, Roy and Kenneth Bradley, all of Waynesboro; a half sister, Rachel Wyantt of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren, three great- grand-daughters; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted 11 a.m. Thursday in McDow Funeral Home by the Rev. Larry Carroll. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lewis Davis, Leroy Shiflett, Dallas Fix, Lanny Phillips, Allen Davis and Jim Austin. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 tonight at the funeral home and at other times at the residence.
