OBITUARY: Branard Tyson Ramsey, 1990 SOURCE: Unknown newspaper CONTRIBUTOR: Carol Harlow ------------------------------------------------------ SHIPMAN -- Branard Tyson "B.T." Ramsey, 77, of Route 1, died Monday (Jan. 1) in the University of Virginia Medical Center. He was born in Nelson County on May 28, 1912, a son of the late William Marshall and Serena Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Hallie Marie Taylor Ramsey; by his second wife, Virginia Christine Crouch Ramsey; and by a son, Stanley James Ramsey. He was a self-employed sawmill operator, having owned and operated B.T. Ramsey and Sons of Shipman. He was a member of Woodland Baptist Church of Colleen. Survivors include five daughters, Margaret Ann Norcross of Lexington, Brenda Marie Johnson of Lovingston, Lena R. Lawhorne of Roseland and Ellyn R. Ashley and Linda R. Grubb, both of Shipman; eight sons, the Rev. Rudolph Ramsey of Scottsville, Wayne Ramsey of Charlottesville, Kenneth Ramsey of Dale City, Blaine Tyson Ramsey of Arrington and Roger Lee Ramsey, Ray William Ramsey, Marshall Elmer Ramsey and James Edward Ramsey, all of Shipman; two sisters, Lena Harris of Greenville and Burgess Coffey of Steeles Tavern; 20 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday at Woodland Baptist Church in Colleen by the Revs. David Blevins and W. Gene Davis. Burial will be in Woodland Memorial Park. The family will receive friends at Wells/Sheffield Funeral chapel in Lovingston tonight from 7 to 9.
