Obituary: Valda Embrey Reed, 2001 Source Unknown Newspaper Contributor: Ronnie Fitzgerald ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Valda Embrey Reed Valda Embrey Reed, 92, of Lovingston, died Jan. 13, 2001, in a local hospital. Valda was preceded in death by her parents, Joseph Norman and Margaret Thurmond Embrey. She also was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil M. Reed, and a nephew, David N. Embrey. Mrs. Reed was a teacher with the Nelson County school system for over 47 years. She was a member of Nelson United Methodist Church, the Nelson County Garden Club and the Amherst Chapter of Order of Eastern Star. Mrs Reed was devoted to the Lord, her family and friends. Survivors include a sister, Elizabeth E. Jones, and her husband, Clarence; nephew, Joseph H. Jones, his wife, Mollie, and their daughters Julie, Mary Beth, Shannon and Justin, all of White Hall; a brother Joseph N. (J.N.) Embrey Jr. and his wife Mary Lee, of Rockfish Depot; niece, Peggy Gifford, her husband, John, and their sons Michael, Matthew and Nathan, all of Mechanicsville; nephew, Edward L. Embrey, his wife, Marilyn, and their children Mark, Tracey and Melanie of Rockfish Depot; and a devoted companion, Bertha Sites, of Lovingston. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Nelson United Methodist Church, with the Reverends Steve McMillion, John Campbell and Randy Harlow officiating. Interment will follow in Monticello Memory Gardens in Charlottesville. Family will receive friends from 6 to 8 this evening at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel.
