Claude William Revely Sr.
  The shepherd has called home another member of his flock. Claude William 
Revely Sr., 81, of Gladstone, left this world for everlasting life on Wednesday, 
Aug. 20, 2003, in McGuire Hospital in Richmond at 12:55 a.m. God in his infinite 
wisdom called him home to rest after a long illness.
  He was born June 24, 1922, the first son of the late James and Elizabeth 
Revely. Claude married Lucy Irene Payne on Sept. 10, 1948. Claude and Lucy were 
blessed with three children, Claude Jr., Melissa and Edward “Dion” who survive 
him.
  Claude accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1948, and became a 
member of the Second Mineral Springs Baptist Church where he was an ordained 
deacon, a member of the senior choir, the president of the men choir, the 
superintendent of the Sunday school, Sunday school teacher, trustee and treasurer. 
He was a member of the senior citizen group, delivered homebound meals, the 
chaplain for the Gladstone Fire Department and co-chairman of finance for the 
community center.
  In addition to his wife and children, he leaves nine grandchildren, four great-
grandchildren, three brothers, James, Sydney and Warren; two sisters, Mary Lou 
and Inez; daughters-in-law, a host of cousins, nieces and nephews and the Second 
Mineral Springs Baptist Church family, officers, ministers, deacons, and friends 
also embrace his memory.
  A funeral service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2003, at Second 
Mineral Springs Baptist Church with the Rev. Harold Mears officiating. Interment 
will be in the Payne-Brown Cemetery.
  The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Monday, Aug. 25, 2003, at the 
church and other times at the residence, 622 Norwood Road, Gladstone.
