Obituary: Elizabeth Mary Romine, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, July 16, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------ Elizabeth Mary Romine, 92, of Troy, formerly of Manassas, Va., went home to her Lord and Savior early Tuesday morning July 15, 2003, at the Bradford County Manor. Elizabeth was born on September 7, 1910, in Nelson County Va.; a daughter of the late Edward and Rosa (Hunt) Mayer. "Granny as she was affectionately known by her family and friends was a member of the Park Side Alliance Church in Manassas, Va. Mr. Romine worked many years preparing produce for sale, inspecting and packing Virginia apples and peaches for shipment. She later cleaned Truman Long’s residence in Manassas until her retirement in 1972. "Granny" enjoyed sewing, reading and bible study. Surviving are; 2 daughters, Catherine Weed and friend, James Morgan both of Troy, Shirley and Roger Himelight of Manassas, Va.; 6 grandchildren, many great grandchildren and great great grandchildren special niece, Hazel Chanclor of Palmyra, Va. Several nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Romaine was predeceased by her husband of 41 years, Stanley Romine; 5 brothers, Otis "Peg", Kermit, Broadus, Emmitt and Robert Mawyer, and 2 sisters; Zora Harris and Addie Harris. Her family invites friends to call from 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 17, 2003, at the Pepper Funeral Home, Springbrook Dr., Canton, Pa. The funeral service will follow at 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held 11:30 a.m., Saturday, in the National Memorial Cemetery, Falls Church, Va. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the Guthrie Hospice, RR 1, Box 154, Towanda, pa. 18848 in Mrs. Romine’s memory.
