Obituary: John Page Russell, 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, July 26, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ----------------------------------------------------------------------- John Page Russell, M.D., died unexpectedly on Monday, July 22, 2002, at his home in Stoney Creek at Wintergreen. Dr. Russell was born in Bryn Mawr, Pa. He graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute and from Temple Medical School. He completed his residency at the then Peter Bent Brigham and the then New England Deaconess Hospitals in Boston. He joined the faculty at Upstate Medical Center in the new Clinical Pathology Department in 1964, and retired from the Pathology Department at Crouse-Irving Memorial Hospital in 1996. Dr. Russell was a member of the American Medical Association, the American Society of Clinical Pathology, the American Society of Microbiologists, and the New York Medical Society. Since moving to Nelson County, he had been a member of the Steering Committee of the Rural Health Outreach Program and Rockfish Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Linda; a daughter, Pamela DeShane of Midlothian; two sons, Clark of New York City and Bruce of Charlottesville; and two grandchildren, Mitchell and Danielle DeShane.
