Obituary: Ida Mae (Tyree) Simpson, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, September 7, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Ida Mae Tyree Simpson, 87 of Freshwater Cove Community Lovingston, died Saturday Morning Sept. 6, 2003 in the University of Virginia Medical Center in Charlottesville, after a long illness due to an automobile accident. Mrs. Simpson was born Mar. 24, 1916, in Lovingston to Charles Henry Tyree and Viola Kidd Tyree. She was the widow of Elwood P. Simpson who died in 1977. She had spent her entire life on the Oak Ridge Estate in Nelson County. She was a member of the Shipman Baptist Church and was employed by the Oak Ridge Telephone Co. until it was taken over by the C&P Telephone Co. Until December of 2000 she was employed by John H. and Rhonda Holland of Oak Ridge Estate. Besides her husband and parents a sister, Catharyn Tyree Giles; and twin brother, Thomas L. Tyree; two nephews, Thomas Nelson Tyree and Charles William Giles, preceded her in death. She is survived by a sister, Maria Tyree of Lovingston; a nephew, Terry Tyree and wife Carla of Odessa, TX.; a great nephew, Brian C. Stuber of Naples, Fla.; and three great nieces; a beloved cousin, Preston Tyree and family of Arrington and a close friend, Earle Loving Cash of Madison Heights. A funeral Service will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral in Lovingston with Rev. John P. Campbell and Rev. Jim Hessmer officiating with interment in the family plot at Trinity Episcopal Church Cemetery at Oak Ridge.
