Obituary: Oakley Homer Smith, 2003 Source: The Dailey Progress, Wednesday, September 17, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com --------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Oakley Homer Smith, 94, of (Adial Community) Faber died Tuesday morning, September 16, 2003, at UVa Medical Center in Charlottesville. Born April 30, 1909, in Nelson County, he was a son of the late John William Smith and Kimmy Puckett Smith. He was an U.S. Army Veteran a self employed farmer and a member of Adial Baptist Church. He is survived by a brother, Leslie P. Smith of (Adial Community) Faber and several nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by seven sisters, Myrtle S. Raines, Lizzie S. Hicks, Sophie S. Snow, Bertha S. Bell, Margaret S. Hicks, Ruby S. Tennells and Annie Spencer Weaver; four Brothers, Johnny Smith, Norvell Smith, Howard Smith and Everett Smith. A funeral service will be held Thursday, September 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Wells/ Sheffield Funeral Chapel with Rev. John P. Campbell officiating and Interment to follow in the Adial Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight from 7-8 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
