Obituary: Lucinda (Massie) Sprouse, 2002 Source: The News Leader, Wednesday, October 9, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------- STUARTS DRAFT - Lucinda "Lucy" (Massie) Sprouse, of 561 Old Whitehill Road, formerly of Estaline Valley, died Tuesday (Oct. 8, 2002.) She was born July 8, 1904, at Piney River, (Nelson County) to Nathaniel and Lela May (Wallace) Massie. Mrs. Sprouse was preceded in death by her husband, Melton W. Sprouse Sr.; a son, Douglas Sprouse; two daughters, Lillie Brouillette and Mary Jane Ingram; seven brothers, Nathaniel, Ernest, John, Elic, Bob, Frank, and Henry Massie; and three sisters, Vera Sprouse, Lena Wright and Irene Massie. Survivors include three daughters, Susie G. Tutrinol of Towson, Md., Hilda M. Raines of Craigsville and Eudora E. Desper of Stuarts Draft; seven sons, Lunsford N., Henry W., Dennie B., Ervine D., Rodney E., and Leon C. Sprouse, all of Craigsville, and M. Wesley Sprouse of Swoope; and a brother, J. Thomas Massie of Staunton. Services will be at 1 p.m. Friday at Bear Funeral Home. Burial will be at Oak Lawn Memory Gardens.
