Obituary: Ellis L. Steele, 1997 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Shirley Houk ---------------------------------------------------------- ROANOKE -- Ellis Leon Steele, 78, of Waynesboro, died Wednesday (June 25, 1997) at Roanoke Community Carilion Hospital. He was born on May 30, 1919, at Montebellow, a son of James Finley and Mary Ellen (Allen) Steele. He was a member of the Church of the Brethern. He was a retired body and fender worker and was an Army verteran. Surviving are two daughters, Jean of Michigan and Cecelia Steele of Indiana; a brother, Exra H. Steele of Waynesboro; and six grandchildren. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Waynesboro chapel of Etter-Reynolds Funeral Service by Pastor Harold Bare with burial at Augusta Memorial Park. Military rites will be conducted by Stuarts Draft VFW Post No. 9339. Pallbearers will be Leo Wheeler, Weldon Bradley, Russell Eavey, Raymond Hoy, Bruce Allen, Marvin Norman and Jake J. Serrett.
