Leslie Purvis Smith, 96, of Adial Community died Sunday night April 18, 2004, 
at the Martha Jefferson Hospital.
Born May 1, 1907, at Adial he was a son of the late John Daniel Smith and 
Kimmy Puckett Smith.
He was a self employed Farmer and a member of Adial Baptist Church. He was the 
last member of his immediate family and was preceded in death by seven 
sisters, Myrtle Raines, Lizzie Hicks, Sophie Snow, Bertha Wood, Margaret 
Hicks, Ruby Tennells and Annie Spencer Weaver; along with five brothers 
Oakley, Johnny, Norvell, Howard and Everett. Several nieces, nephews, great-
nieces and great-nephews survive him.
A Funeral Service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 21, 2004, at 
Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Rev. John P. Campbell 
officiating with Interment in the Adial Cemetery.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at the funeral 
home.
