"Bill" Thompson, 63, of Lyndhurst Rd., died Friday morning (Feb. 23, 1990) in the Veterans Administration Hospital in Salem. He was born in Lyndhurst on Feb. 20, 1927, a son of the late Nelson O. Thompson and Clara Parry Thompson (of Nelson County). Mr. Thompson was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean war. Survivors include a sister, Mrs. Ann V. Arthur of Lyndhurst; two brothers, Aubrey R. Thompson of Waynesboro and Nelson O. Thompson of Lyndhurst; and a number of nieces and nephews. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday by the Rev. Randall A. Blankenship and Larry C. Chittenden in the Waynesboro chapel of Etter Funeral Home. Burial will be in Lyndhurst United Methodist Church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be R. D. Morris, Rick Morris, James R. Fitzgerald, Chuck Moxie, John Bradfield and Dale Plummer. Honorary pallbearers will be friends at North 340 KOA Campground, Weasie's Kitchen and Hardee's. Stuarts Draft VFW Post 9339 will conduct military rites at the graveside.
