  Robert Kemper Thompson, 95, of Faber, (Nelson County), died Sunday, 
March 9, 2003, at the Lovingston Health Care Center.
  Born Feb. 25, 1908, in Nelson Co. a son of the late Eual Kemper Thompson 
and Laura Jane Phillips Thompson.
  He was also preceded in death by his wife, Mattie Mae Goff Thompson of 
Nov. 29, 1988; and his brother, James Austin Thompson along with three great-
grandchildren.
  He was a retired self employed carpenter all his adult life.
  He is survived by two daughters, Ruby Mae Sandridge and her husband, Bill 
and Edith M. Coleman and her husband Lovell, all of Charlottesville; five 
sons, Wesley K. Thompson and his wife, Audrey, of Charlottesville, Arthur L. 
Thompson and his wife, Virginia Ann, of Lovingston, James C. Thompson and 
his wife, Margie, of Faber, Sydney O. Thompson and his wife, Hattie, of 
Lovingston, and Robert E. Thompson of Charlottesville; 18 grandchildren; 31 
great-grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
  A funeral service will be held Wednesday March 12, 2003, at 2 p.m. at 
Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, with the Rev. W. Gene Davis 
officiating with interment in Ridgecrest Cemetery near Lovingston.
  The family will receive friends today from 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home 
and suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to the Nelson 
County Rescue Squad at P.O. Box 44, Faber, Va. 22938.
