Obituary: Glen Huffman Thompson, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, April 17, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Glen Huffman "Dukie" Thompson, 58, of Lovingston, died Tuesday Morning, April 15, 2003, at his residence. Born July 5, 1944, in Nelson County, he was a son of Carrie Ponton Thompson of Lovingston, and the late Easley B. Thompson. He was a retired employee of the Buffalo Air Handling Corp., of Amherst, a U.S. Marine veteran, a former member of the Piney River Fire Department, The Roseland Rescue Squad and served as a Special Deputy Sheriff in Nelson County. He was the first K. Nine officer with the Nelson County Sheriffs Department and was a member of the Nelson County Search and Rescue Team. He was a member of Ridgecrest Baptist Church. In addition to his mother, Carrie Ponton Thompson, he is survived by his wife, Virginia Massie Thompson; his daughter, Pennethe Dulcey "Penny" Berryman of Lovingston; his son, Wendell Burke Thompson of Wingina; one sister, Phyllis Massey of Earlysville; one brother, Sherwood Thompson of Charlottesville; and five grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday, April 18, 2003, at 2 p.m. at Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel, Lovingston, with the Rev. John Campbell officiating. Interment will follow in the Jonesboro Cemetery at Roseland. Friends may call at the funeral home at anytime after noon today.
