Obituary: Mrs. Thomas Tillman, 1923 Source: The Schuyler Comet April 14 1923 Contributor: Ronnie Fitzgerald -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Mrs. Thomas Tillman Sr., who has been invalid for many months, died Wednesday morning at 2:00 a.m. The previous day in the morning hours she seemed brighter and better than she had appeared for a long time, but at 3:00 p.m. a change came and those around her realized the seriousness of her condition. In the early hours of the next day, Wednesday, she entered into eternal rest. Mrs. Tillman was in her ninety first year. She lived on her farm in the home to which as a girl she had come as a bride. She was Miss. Caroline Baird of Buckingham before her marriage. Her husband fought in the civil war, was wounded at Gettysburg and never thoroughly recovered from his hurts, dying soon after the close of the war. Mrs. Tillman then shouldered her responsibilities bravely, training her children and attending to her farm. Four of her children have passed over the river before her; Mrs. Techerias Carroll, Miss Martha Tillman and Charles and George Tillman. She is survived by three sons, Richard, John and Thomas Tillman, by twenty grandchildren and forty great grandchildren. Faithful in her home loyal to her people, kindly warm hearted as a neighbor- truly a mother in Israel has entered into her reward: "Be thou faithful unto death and I will give thee the crown of life." ****************************************************************** USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by any other organization or persons.
