Obituary: Caroline Wilson Gray Truslow, 2000 Source: Unknown newspaper Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------ TRUSLOW REIDSVILLE -- Caroline "Tine" Wilson Gray Truslow, 80, of 1706 Pennrose Drive died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at Annie Penn Hospital. She was the wife of Dr. Roy E. Truslow, former radiologist at Annie Penn Hospital. (Dr. Roy Truslow was the grandson of William Nicholas Truslow of Nelson County) A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, 2000, at First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville with a reception afterward. A graveside service will follow at 2:30 p.m. in Salem Cemetery in Winston-Salem. Mrs. Truslow was born Oct. 5, 1920, in Winston-Salem to Dr. Eugene Price Gray and Janet Crump Gray. She had one sister, Janet Crump Gray, who died in 1937. She graduated from Salem Academy in 1937 and Agnes Scott College in Decatur, Ga., in 1941. After attending Washington (D.C.) School for Secretaries, Mrs. Truslow worked for the N.C. Chapter of Women's National Democratic Committee in Washington in 1942 and 1943. Mrs. Truslow met her future husband while employed as the secretary of the pediatric department at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem. She then attended graduate school at the University of Iowa, Iowa City, Iowa, from 1945 to 1946. Tine and Roy were married Sept. 21, 1946, in the First Presbyterian Church in Winston-Salem and moved to Reidsville in 1952. The have three children, Janet Crump Truslow and partner Susan Greene of Decatur, Ga., Robert Gray Truslow of Woburn, Mass., and Dr. William Worth Truslow and wife, Mary, of Greensboro. She is also survived by grandchildren Caroline Kennelly Isaacs of Paris, France, Evan Myers Morrison of Greensboro and Davis Cheung Truslow of Woburn. Mrs. Truslow was a past president of the Women of the Church, First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville, member of the organizing committee of Hospice of Rockingham County, volunteer for the American Cancer Society for over 15 years and Literacy Program of the Reidsville Public Library. She served on the board of trustees of the former Glade Valley School and board of directors of Rockingham Community College Foundation. She was a sustaining member of the Winston-Salem Junior League and the Reidsville Junior Service League. She was a choir member, deacon and elder of the First Presbyterian Church of Reidsville. Dr. and Mrs. Truslow endowed scholarships at Bowman Gray Medical School of Wake Forest University, East Carolina Medical School, two at Agnes Scott College, three at Rockingham Community College, Salem Academy, Wake Forest University and the Presbyterian Foundation for the former Glade Valley School and now used for children of missionaries stationed outside the United States. Tine had a wide circle of friends whom she treasured and kept up with through many years. She had a keen sense of adventure and traveled extensively throughout the world. She was an avid reader and patron of the arts. She had a strong sense of family and joy of life. Her sense of humor and spontaneous gaiety will be greatly missed. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Rockingham Community College Foundation, P.O. Box 38, Wentworth, NC 27375.
