  Joseph Leon Vest, 42, of North Garden died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2002. 
  He was born May 23, 1960, the son of Rolene Vest and the late John M Vest Sr. 
(of Nelson County).
  He was a tractor trailer driver for Augusta Lumber Company for many years. 
  He leaves to cherish his memory his mother; one brother, John M. Vest Jr. of 
North Garden; one aunt, Georgia Alexander of Washington, D.C.; two uncles, Theodore 
Vest of Charlottesville, and Charles Vest of North Garden; a stepfather, Joseph 
Wells; a number of cousins and nieces; a host of other relatives and friends; and 
one devoted friend of 13 years, Diane Ayres of Scottsville. 
  Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Airy Baptist Church, Faber, 
with the Rev. Gordon Fields officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
