Obituary: Bertha Goff Weeks, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, May 10, 2003 Contributor: Jim McRay -------------------------------------------------------------------------- Bertha Lee Goff Weeks, 84, of Charlottesville, died Thursday, May 8, 2003, at her residence. Born May 27, 1918, in Nelson County, she was the daughter of the late Dabney Huston Goff and Julia Philips Goff. She worked many years as a restaurant waitress, was a 1960 graduate of Hairdressing School, and was an active member of Jehovah’s Witness. In her later years she found a great deal of joy and zeal for the truths of the Bible and was a Witness of Jehovah for the past 36 years. She used every opportunity to share the great hope of a paradise on earth. Her last wish for all who knew her was that they ask God, who gave them their life, to open their eyes to the truths of His Word, the Bible. For this life is only a taste of the paradise to come. She is survived by four children, LaVerne H. Fowler and her husband, Henry, of Tappahanock, Faye Salvucci and her husband, Richard, of Quincy, Mass., Wanda Jean Weeks and James C. Weeks of Charlottesville; one sister, Amanda Philips of Richmond; three brothers, Gilbert Goff of Schuyler, Va., Melvin Goff of Faber, Va., Howard Goff and his wife, Frances of Charlottesville; six grandchildren, Richard Salvucci and his wife, Judy of Quincy, Mass., Glen Fowler and his wife, Bonnie, of Fluvanna, Va., Debbie Adams and her husband, Rich, of Nashville, Tenn., James Rodney Weeks and his wife, Pam, of Stanardsville, Va., Justin Ryan Weeks of Charlottesville, Lori Wozney and her husband, Mike of Alexandria, Va.; six great-grandchildren; Ellen Canady, who Bertha fondly referred to as her adopted daughter; and many other family members and friends.
