Obituary: Estes Kidd "Slim" White, 2002 Source: The News Advance, Oct. 3, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ----------------------------------------------------------- LOVINGSTON - Estes Kidd "Slim" White, 73, of Birch Drive, Lynchburg, died Tuesday night, Oct. 1, 2002, at the Lovingston Health Care Center after a brief illness. Born Oct. 9, 1928, in Nelson County, he was a son of the late James William White and Susie Cash White Bridgewater. Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by his stepfather, Robert Bridgewater, brothers, Yeaman White and Warren Harden White, and two sisters, Margaret Huffman and Edith Brogan. He was a retired supervisor with Lynchburg Training School and Hospital, an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, and a member of Thomas Road Baptist Church. He is survived by his sisters, Virginia L. Bragg and husband, Mack, of Amelia, Alice M. Bryant and husband, Junior, of Afton, and Myrtle L. Moyer of Lovingston; a brother, Lawrence Edward (Ray) White and wife, Lee Anna, of Bedford, and several nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. A funeral service will be held Friday, Oct. 4, 2002, at 7 p.m. at Wells/ Sheffield Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Pete Russell officiating with interment in Oak Hill Cemetery the following day. The family will receive friends following the service and suggest that flowers be omitted and memorials take the form of contributions to a local chapter of the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
