Obituary: James Albert "Dooley" Wood Sr., 2002 Source: The News and Advance, Lynchburg, August 24, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow --------------------------------------------------------------------- LOVINGSTON - James Albert "Dooley" Wood Sr., 85, of Lovingston, died Friday, Aug. 23, 2002 at his home in Davis Creek. Born Dec. 16, 1916 in Albemarle County, he was a son of the late Grover Cleveland Wood and Lee Gowan Stewart. He was a U.S. Army veteran. He is survived by his wife, Roxie Stevens Wood; three daughters, Brenda W. Hughes, Frances W. Bowen and husband, Charles both of Lovingston, Debra W. Martin and husband, Steve of Amherst; one son, James A. Wood Jr. and wife, Beth of Lovingston; two sisters, Jessie S. Adams of Amherst, Madeline W. Meekins of Manchester, Md.; one brother, Charlie V. Stewart of Grottoes, 12 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, 2002 at the Wells/ Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston with Jeff Stevens officiating with interment to follow in Woodland Memorial Park at Colleen. The family will receive friends from 7-9 p.m. tonight at the funeral home.
