Obituary: Virginia Harris Wood, 2002 Source: The Daily Progress, September 15, 2002 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ----------------------------------------------------------- Virginia Harris Wood, 87, of Afton, died Friday, Sept. 13, 2002, at her residence. Mrs. Wood was born April 6, 1915, in Helena, Mont., the daughter of Benjamin and Susan Thompson Harris. In addition to her husband, George Whitfield Wood, and her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Nannie Fuqua, and a grandson, Frederick Whitfield Ahalt. Survivors include four daughters, Nancy Jackson of Afton, Judy Wagner of Lyndhurst, Georgia Ahalt of Afton, and Nellie Lane of Afton; a sister, Frances Brosig of Waynesboro; eight grandchildren; and 11 great-grand- children. A service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Monday at Rodes United Methodist Church, by the Rev. Richard McDowell. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Active pallbearers will be Todd Johnson, John DeBilizon, Lowell Underwood, Rick Elliot, Michael Godlewski, and David Skulina. Honorary pallbearers will be Alden Rodes, Thomas Jackson, Richard Wagner, Bruce Jackson, Harry Johnson, and John Barlow. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. this evening at Reynolds Funeral Service of Waynesboro.
