Obituary: James Tucker Woodson, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, January 17, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ----------------------------------------------------------------------- James Tucker "Jimmy" Woodson, 70, of Nellysford, died Wednesday, Jan. 15, 2003, at a local hospital. He was born Dec. 4, 1932, in Albemarle County to the late Charles Richard Woodson and Carrie Barnett Woodson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, John Benjamin Woodson; and one grandson, Carlton Allen Patterson. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Elizabeth Hughes Woodson; two sons, Mike Fitzgerald and his wife, Stephanie of Beechgrove, and James Richard Woodson of Nellysford; two daughters, Rita Faye Showalter and her fiancée, David Hammer, of Alexandria, and Brenda W. Gibson and her husband, Buster of Crozet; eight grand- children, James Michael, Tanner Ryan, and Logan Fitzgerald, James Travis Woodson, James Milton, and Hershey Lynn Showalter, Kevin Hammer and Cindy Gibson; four great- grandchildren, Shayna and Taylor Fitzgerald, Kyla Marie Woodson and Mason Prichett; five sisters, Mary Katherine Black, Charlotte Virginia Dollins, Mattie Frances Graves, Betty Sue Barksdale, and Nancy Lee Farinholt; and a number of nieces and nephews. Mr. Woodson was retired from R.A. Yancey Lumber Company in Crozet and was an avid hunter and outdoorsman. The family would like to thank the Hospice of the Piedmont for their care. The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. today at the Anderson Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at the Anderson Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at the Hillsboro Cemetery with Robert Mansfield officiating. Active pallbearers will be Steve Black, Gale Thompson, Ronnie Dollins, James Campbell, Page Hatter and Greg Shifflett. The family suggests that memorial contributions be made to the Hospice of the Piedmont, 1490 Pantops Mountain Place, Suite 200, Charlottesville, Va. 22911.
