Obituary: Virginia (Embrey) Wood Source: The Daily Progress, Thursday, November 20, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow, aquaair@erols.com ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Virginia Embrey Wood, 87, of Lovingston, died Tuesday afternoon Nov. 18, 2003, in the Hanover Healthcare Center in Mechanicsville. Born May 18, 1916, at Schuyler (Nelson Co.) a daughter of the late Charles Embrey and Harvey Brawner Embrey. She was preceded in death by her husband William McKenny Wood Sr. on August 20, 1985. Also preceded in death by a sister Catherine Howard and a brother Austin Embery. She was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Lovingston and retired from the Central Virginia Electric Co-op as head bookkeeper with 37 years of service. She is survived by her daughters Betty W. Davis of Mechanicsville, Patsy W. Perrin of Ashland and Dawn W. Tyree of Sandston. A son William McKenny Wood Jr. of Summerville, S.C.; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. A funeral service will be held Friday at 11 a.m. at the graveside in Mountain View Cemetery in Lovingston with the Rev. John P. Campbell officiating. Following the service the family will receive friends in the social hall of Calvary Baptist Church for a fellowship dinner. The family suggest that memorials take the form of contributions to Calvary Baptist Church Building Fund, P.O. Box 264, Lovingston, Va. 22949. Friends may call at the funeral home anytime today.
