Obituary: John Lee "Johnny" Wright, 2003 Source: The Daily Progress, January 25, 2003 Contributor: Dennis Truslow ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ LOVINGSTON - John Lee "Johnny" Wright, 78, of Lovingston at the Davis Creek Community, died Thursday, Jan. 23, 2003, at his residence. Born in Nelson County at Davis Creek on March 22, 1924, he was a son of the late Annie Mae Mitchell Wright and Taliferro Wright. Johnny was a farmer and lumberman in Nelson County all his adult life and resided in the home in which he was born. He was also a member of Oak Hill Baptist Church at Davis Creek. Survivors include his wife of 38 years, Arlene Burnley Wright; a sister, Mary J. Moore and her husband Jerry of Lady Smith; a brother, Jesse Wright and his wife Audrey of Dobson, N.C.; two nephews to who he was very close, Raymond "Skip" Dugan of Arrington and Clifford "Cliff" Dugan and his wife, Judy of Amherst; and several other nieces and nephews. A funeral service will be conducted 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 27, 2003, at Oak Hill Baptist Church, with Rev. J.D. Mayberry officiating. Interment will follow in the Oak Hill Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the Wells/Sheffield Funeral Chapel in Lovingston, Sunday evening from 7 to 9 p.m. The family suggest that those wishing to make memorial contributions consider the Nelson County Rescue Squad, P.O.
