Burdette Laverne Wells, 80, of Faber, Va., died Saturday, Feb. 14, 2004, at 
Martha Jefferson Hospital.
She was born April 4, 1923, in Nelson County. She was preceded in death by her 
husband, Lewis E. Wells; her father and mother, Joe Johnson Jr. and Anna 
Rebecca Key Johnson; four brothers, Otis Johnson, Robert Johnson, Ivanhoe 
Johnson and Sherman Johnson; two sisters, Lucille Woodson and Narcissus 
Johnson Haywood.
She is survived by five sons, Robert L. Wells and his wife, Alice, Joseph L. 
Wells Sr. and his wife, Elsie, George H. Wells and his wife, Ruby, all of 
Faber, B.G. Wells and his wife, Vanessa, and Donald Wells Sr. and his wife, 
Jody, all of Charlottesville. She is also survived by two sisters, Annie Evans 
of Baltimore, Md., and Clarettha Campbell of Glen Burnie, Md.; 15 
grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 18, 2004, at Cedar 
Grove Baptist Church in Nelson County, with the Rev. James Right officiating. 
The Rev. B.G. Wells will deliver the eulogy.
