Will: Alexander Camden, 1863 Source: Nelson County Will Book M, Page 298 Contributed by: Sylvia Ray (SylviaCamdenRay@aol.com) ---------------------------------------------------------- In the name of God, Amen, I Alexander Camden of Nelson County and State of Virginia, being of mature age and in good health and of sound mind and body, in view of the uncertainty of life do make this my Last Will and Testament in the following form and manner to wit, viz: First and last, I give and bequeath unto my beloved brother William S. Camden my entire interest, both personal and real, that I am entitled to from my Father's estate and all monies that may be due me after all my just debts is paid, the said William S. Camden shall have and hold in his own right. Given from under my hand above written, September 9, 1863. Witness: Alexander Camden {seal} E. V. Carter Wm H. Giles At a Court of monthly session begun and held for Nelson County at the Courthouse on Monday, the 23rd day of September 1865. An instrument of writing purporting to be the Last Will and Testament of Alexander Camden, deceased, was this day produced in Court and proved by the oaths of E. V. Carter and Wm H. Giles two subscribing witnesses thereto and thereupon ordered to be recorded. And at another day to wit: At a Court of quarterly session begun and held for Nelson County at the Courthouse on Monday, the 27th day of November 1865, on the motion of Joseph P. Camden and it appearing to the Court that Alexander Camden has departed this life for more than three months and no person applying for administration on his estate (though his will has been admitted to record in the Court) it is ordered that the estate of the said Alexander Camden be committed to the hands of John F. Hix, Sheriff or this County to be by him administered as such Sheriff with the will annexed of the said Alexander Camden, deceased, according to law. Teste: S. H.
