Bond: Receiver's Bond, Rhoda Camden vs. Ligon, Sheriff, 1856 Source: Nelson County Will Book K, Page 364 Contributed by: Sylvia Ray (SylviaCamdenRay@aol.com) ----------------------------------------------------------------- Know all men by these presents, that we Sterling Claiborne and James Miller, Jr. are held and firmly bound unto the Commonwealth of Virginia in the just and full sum of sixteen hundred dollars to the payment whereof well and truly to be made we bind ourselves and each of us, and each of our heirs, executors, and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our seals and dated this 24th day of March 1856. The Condition of the above obligation is that if the above bound Sterling Claiborne who by a decree of the County Court of Nelson County made at the February Terms 1856 of said in a suit therein pending, Rhoda Camden and others vs. Ligon, Sheriff was appointed a receiver to withdraw from the hands of said Ligon or from the Bank of Virginia the negotiable costs of James Miller, Jr., for the sum of $41 endorsed by said Claiborne to collect the same when due and account for and pay the same as receiver of the Court when and in such manner as the Court by its future order may decree shall faithfully discharge the duties of his said trust then the above obligation to be void otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.
