Contributor: Debra Miller ------------------------------------------------- I, DUNMORE DAMRON, of Nelson County, do make and ordain this as my last will and testament and with earthly goods it hath pleased God to bless me with, I give, devise and bequeath in the following manner: In the first place, I wish all my just debts paid as my executor hereafter mentioned may see best, as they are but small. In the second place, I give my son SAMUEL a Negro boy named John, which I have delivered to him and 225 acres of land whereon Prophet lives to him and his heirs forever. In the next place, I give to my son DRURY DAMRON's daughter, Susanah, a Negro girl named Celie and her increase, to her and her heirs forever, and give to him a Negro boy named Mich, Rose's last child which I have delivered to them, to him and his heirs forever. I give my son, ZACHARIAH DAMRON, a Negro boy named Peter, which I have delivered to him and the land I live on called Dixson's Tract, to be possessed of one-half at my death, and the other at his Mother's. If she should be the longer liver as she is to have half and the house and lot as long as she lives, and at his getting possession of the whole, he is to pay my Grandson, Joseph Chandler, three hundred dollars, which is what I intend to give him. The above property to my son and his heirs forever. I give to my son LEELAND DAMRON, my tract of land on the north side of Dutch Creek, with one acre on this side in the lower bent of the creek, and the entry adjoining the same containing 150 acres, to him and his heirs forever, and two Negro girls, Sarah and Mariah, which he has bought of me for one hundred dollars, provided they live long enough to be taken from their mother, and if either dies, he is to pay that much less. The above property to him and his heirs forever. I give to my son JOHN DAMRON a young Negro girl named July and her increase, which I have delivered to him and his heirs forever. Also, my best shotgun and half my wearing clothes. I give to my daughter NANCY a Negro woman named Silva which she has in her possession and her future increase to her and her heirs forever. Also one of my best beds and furniture, which she has in her possession. I give to my daughter, POLLEY THOMAS a Negro girl and her increase, the girl named Hannah, and a feather bed and furniture, which property she has in her possession to her and her heirs forever. I give to my daughter MARTHA a Negro girl named Polly and her increase, and a bed and furniture which she has in her possession, to her and her heirs forever, and if either of my unmarried daughters should dye with no heirs of their boddy, their property which I have given them, to be divided among my living children. I lend to my wife during her natural life, half the land I live on called Dixson's Tract and the house and lot adjoining it and two Negros, Ned and Rose, and the one-third part of my household and kitchen furniture and the one-third part of my stock of all kinds, and one-third part of my plantation tools for life, to be given her by my Executors at the appraised value, the other two thirds of my property to be sold by my Executors and the money arising there from and what money may be found in my house and what money may be owing me to first pay all expenses and them selves out of and if any left divide among my children and at my wife's death, her property to be sold by my Executors and the money arising there from my son DRURY to have one hundred Dollars first and the Balance divide among my five boys and I give to my son Drury the other half of my waring clothes and last of all I appoint WILLIAM FABER and my son SAMUAL DAMRON Executors to this my last will and testament in witness whereof I have hereto set my hand and seal this third day of August, One Thousand and 838 (signed) DUNMORE DAMRON, Esq. Teste: Dennis Nally John Powel (X his mark) Terisha Bailey At a court held for Nelson County on the 28th day of January, 1839, this instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of DUNMORE DAMRON, dec'd was presented and proved by the oath of DENNIS NALLY and TERISHA BAILEY, two subscribing witnesses hereto and ordered to be recorded on the motion where upon SAMUEL DAMRON, one of the executors named in said will, who personally appeared in court and made oath together with LEELAND DAMRON, WIATT HARE, COLEMAN W. KIDD and BENJAMIN MOSELY, his securities entered into and acknowledged a bond in the penalty of ten thousand dollars conditioned according to law, certificate is granted him for obtaining probate in said Will in due form...
