Armistead of Lieutenant Diggs in whose troops he served. Signed: J. Nelson Maj. Gen'l K. G. Wm. March 3 1788 I do with the advice of Council hereby certify that John Ross, aged about 24 years, late a private in the State Cavalry and whose pay was at the rate of 30 pounds per annum appears to have been disabled in such a manner while in the service of the United States by a wound to his left leg as to entitle him to the sum of twelve pounds yearly; which allowance is accordingly made him, to commence from the first day of January 1787. Given under my hand as Lieutenant Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 3rd day of April 1787. T. Ross' pension was augmented to 18 pounds yearly after an examination by Dr. Halyburton in January 1792, certified by Beverley Randolph, Governor.
