Blassingham, Retired Farmer, Dies in Portlock John William Blassingham, 91, retired Norfolk County farmer, died last night at 8:45 o'clock at his residence, 2709 Bainbridge Boulevard, Portlock, after a short illness. Known throughout the county as "Uncle Johnny," Mr. Blassingham was one of the oldest county residents and one of its best known farmers. He retired from active farming several years ago. He was a native of Gloucester County and had resided in this section for 70 years. He was a son of the late John W. and Mrs. Emaline Dunston Blassingham, and husband of the late Mrs. Virginia Rowland Blassingham. Surviving are a son, John L. Blassingham, of Portlock; three daughters, Mrs. N. Bruce Hodges, of Great Bridge; Miss Julia Blassingham and Mrs. Fannie B. Wallace, of Portlock, and four grandchildren, and three great-grandchildren. ****************** John William Blassingham Funeral services for Mr. Blassingham, who died at his residence, 2709 Bainbridge Boulevard, Monday night, will be held today at 3 p.m. at the Sykes Funeral Home. Blassingham - Funeral services for Mr. Blassingham, who died at his residence, 2709 Bainbridge Boulevard, were conducted yesterday at 3 p.m. at the Sykes Funeral Home, Berkley, by the Rev. David C. George, rector of the St. Brides Episcopal Church, and the Rev. H.G. Councill, Jr., pastor of Rosemont Congregational-Christian Church. Pallbearers were W.V. Blassingham, George Blassingham, Harold J. Blassingham, M.T. Blassingham, Jr., George Shackelford, W.B. Dudley, J.D. Wingfield, Rowland Morrison, Albert Morrison, M.T. Blassingham, Robert Rowland and Hamilton Rowland. Burial was in Magnolia Cemetery.
