City of Newport News, Virginia DATE: 1801, date of oldest grave (marker). OWNERS: Fred Cock. (1937) DESCRIPTION: There is no record of this burial plot. There are several graves here, but only one stone standing. HISTORICAL SIGNIFICANCE: The following inscriptions were found in this graveyard: This is the grave of a descendant of Thomas Curle, and grandfather of the present owner of “Joy Home”. In memory of Pascow Herbert Who departed this life in the 30 year of his age the 21 of May 1801 Sacred to the memory of Jas. Henry C. Finch only child of Jas. H. and Laura F.
