WILLIAM J. BYRD

   Newport News, Virginia, December 24 - Died early Tuesday morning, December 
23, 1952 in a Richmond nursing home after a lengthy  illness. He was a native of 
Nansemond County and had been a resident of Newport News Shipbuilding and Dry 
Dock Company and a member of First Congregational Christian Church and the 
Retired Men’s Club. Surviving are 2 daughters, Mrs. Roland R. Stall of Newport 
News and Mrs. Roy W. Harris of Hampton; a son, William F. Byrd of Newport News; 
a brother, Lloyd M. Byrd of Portsmouth; 10 grandchildren and 6 great 
grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Friday, December 26, 1952 at 2:30 
p.m. at Peninsula Funeral Home, with the Rev. A. Lanson Granger, pastor of First 
Congregational Christian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Peninsula 
Memorial Park.
