Newport News - Helen May Houck Crandol, 75, passed away Wednesday, June 20, 
2007, surrounded by her loving family, after a long illness.

She was a member of Faith Baptist Church of Hampton.  She was co-founder of 
the Greater Baltimore Chapter of SHHH, Self Help for Hard of Hearing People, 
and was also a longtime voluntee for the Riverside Regional Medical Center 
Auxiliary.

Mrs. Crandol was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Joseph Crandol, Jr.

Survivors include four sons, Carl and wife, Becky, David and wife, Leslie, 
Donald and wife, Jan, and Jerry and wife, Brenda; her daughter, Elizabeth 
Clarke and husband, Dale; and her sister, Doris E. Murphy.  She is also 
survived by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. tonight at Peninsula Funeral 
Home.  A funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m., Saturday, June 23, at 
Faith Baptist Church, Hampton.  Burial will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.

Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
