She was born on Nov. 3, 1918 at Newport News, a daughter of Howard B. and Mabel (Eades) Brooks. She was a graduate of Mary Washington College where she earned a bachelor of science degree in business education. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church, where she served in numerous leadership positions over the years, including president of the Women of the Church. She was an elder and deacon. She was a recent recipient of the American Cancer Society’s Terese Lasser Award for 23 years of volunteer service with the Reach to Recovery program and was a Paul Harris Fellow with the Harrisonburg Rotary Club. She was married to D’Earcy P. Davis, Jr. [sic*] Surviving are two sons, D’Earcy P. Davis III of Harrisonburg and Wayne H. Davis of Staunton; and give grandsons. A memorial service will be held at 1 this morning at Frist Presbyterian Church, after which the family will receive friends in the fellowship hall. They m. 11 Apr 1942 in Newport News. (Warwick Co. #42) His body was also donated to the State Anatomical Program.
