DUKE PASSES - RITES AT 3 MONDAY Native of Nansemond County, Local Resident 30 Years; Deaconess in East End Church Mrs. Susie M. Duke, 50, of 1021 Twenty Fourth Street, died at 8:30 last night, after an illness of several months. She was a native of Nansemond County, but had lived in Newport News for 30 years. Members of the immediate family surviving are her husband, R.T. Duke; two sons, Tommie and Freddie; one sister, Mrs. J.W. Holland of Suffolk; and one brother, J.B. Hueter of Hampton. Mrs. Duke was for 25 years a member of the First Congregational Christian Church of Newport News. She was a member of the Golden Rule Bible class, the Women’s Auxiliary, and of the board of deacons. Peninsula Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements, and the body will remain there until 3 Monday afternoon when the funeral services will be conducted at the First Congregational Christian Church, with the Rev. Jesse H. Dollar, pastor, in charge. The Rev. Robert Lee House, a former pastor, will assist in the service, and the body will be interred in Greenlawn Cemetery. Susie Maria (HEUTER; Mrs. Richard T. Her parents - Fredrick Jacob HEUTER {1854 Germany - 1920 N.News} & Diannah (BAKER) HEUTER {1852 Nan.Co. - 1930 N.News} - & brother are also buried in Greenlawn. Her husband remarried twice.
