Portsmouth Deaths Dewitt Talmadge Hobbs, Sr., 61, husband of the late Mrs. Evelyn Pruden Hobbs, of 1016 West 38th Street, Norfolk, died yesterday at 1:25 p.m. near Kempsville, Princess Anne County. The deceased was a native of Gates County, N.C., and son of the late Patrick L. and Mrs. Sarah E. Hobbs. He had lived in this section for the past five years. Mr. Hobbs is survived by two sons, Dewitt T. Hobbs, of Norfolk, and William P. Hobbs, of Rural Retreat; three sisters, Mrs. W.A. Speight and Mrs. W.H. Stevenson, both of Portsmouth, and Mrs. Levy Butler, of Buckhorn; two brothers, N.L. Hobbs and H.H. Hobbs, both of Norfolk; one grandson, Dewitt T. Hobbs, III. Mr. Hobbs was a member of Warwick Swamp Baptist Church, Chowan County, N.C. The body was taken to Snellings Funeral Home, where funeral services will be held tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk. The family will meet at the residence of a sister, Mrs. Speight, 531 Mount Vernon Avenue, Portsmouth. ****************************************************************************** Dewitt Hobbs Funeral Thursday Funeral services for Dewitt Talmadge Hobbs, Sr., 61, a former resident of Suffolk who died yesterday afternoon at 1:25 p.m. near Kempsville, Princess Anne County, will be held tomorrow afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Snellings Funeral Home in Portsmouth. Interment will take place in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Suffolk.
