HENRY SARTIN KILLED IN AUTO NEAR THE BRIDGE 

Henry Sartin, 25, Dies In Suffolk Hospital After Early Morning Accident 

  Henry Sartin, 25, of Newport News, was fatally injured, and Miss Nellie 
Palmore, of Richmond, and Miss Thelma Trainham of Petersburg, injured as the 
result of an automobile accident on the James River Bridge road between the 
Log Cabin and the James River Bridge Sunday morning around 2:30 o'clock.  They 
were carried to Lakeview Hospital by Curtis Smith of Suffolk, and S.I. Griggs 
of Newport News, passing motorists, and admitted at 3:30 o'clock. 

  Sartin, who was driving the car, going to Newport News, in which the two 
girls were riding, suffered a fractured skull.  The two girls sustained cuts 
and abrasions. 

  Two cars parked on the highway, one from Suffolk and the second from Newport 
News, are said by Officer George Hall, who patrols the James River Bridge 
system, to be the cause of the accident. 

  The Sartin car, turning out for the coming car, failed to note that two cars 
were parked on the road, and met the oncoming car just abreast the second 
parked car. 

  Sartin, son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry W. [sic. R.] Sartin, of Newport News, died 
Sunday afternoon at 2 o'clock. 

  His father, Henry W. Sartin, Sr., got to his son's bedside Sunday afternoon 
from Newport News, but too late to see him alive.  The body was taken back to 
Newport News later.  Mr. Sartin is survived by his parents and three sisters, 
Mrs. W.H. Bragg and Misses Valora and Melba Sortin, all of Newport News.
