Whiteman, 78, died Thursday, Oct. 11, in Riverside Regional Medical Center. A native of Pleasant Valley, Penn., he had been a Peninsula resident 55 years. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Warwick Masonic Lodge No. 336 and William J. McMahon Lodge No. 303. He was a World War II Navy veteran. Mr. Whiteman retired from Norfolk Naval Air Station in 1974 after 28 years. Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Faison Whiteman; three sons, Robert F. Whiteman Sr. of York, Douglas F. Whiteman of Toronto, Canada, and Thomas C. Whiteman of State College, Pa.; a sister, Dorothy Carlson of Atlanta, Ga.; six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A funeral will be conducted at 12:30 p.m. Monday in Peninsula Funeral Home by Drs. J. Walter Martin and Kenneth Barnes. Burial with Masonic rites will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park. The family will receive friends from 3 to 4:30 p.m. today at the funeral home.
