Campbell's Detachment of VA Line Norfolk County On examination of John McLanahan who appears to be about thirty years of age the right leg has had the tibia shattered to pieces in a very great ____ and from the loss of bone the leg has become quite crooked and almost ____to which misfortune, a remaining cavitie and _____ from the open ____ of the ulceration of the leg-and he says ever been the cause of ____ of the receipt of Injury. I do with the advice of the Council hereby certify that John McClanahan, about 30 years of age, late a lieutenant in a detachment of the VA line commanded by Lt. Col. Campbell whose pay was at the rate of 24 pounds per annum was disabled in the service of the United States by a wound to his right leg; and that he is entitled to the sum of twelve pounds yearly to commence on the 1st day of Jan'y 1786. Given under my hand as Governor of the Commonwealth of Virginia, at Richmond, this 31st day of March 1788.
