She was born August 2, 1920, in Norfolk. She was the widow of Herman L. Butt, Jr. Predeceasing her was her son, Herman "Butch" L Butt, III, and a brother, Ernest Crawley. Kitty was a very happy person who loved to sing and dance. "Dancing with the Stars" has nothing on mom and dad. The Redskins had a real fan when they had Kitty. Her honeymoon was spent in Washington, DC, attending a game - now that's a "fan." She was a devoted wife, mother and mother-in-law. Kitty leaves to cherish her memory two daughters and two sons-in-law, Jean Carol and Don Sanyour of Virginia Beach and Mary Ellen and Ward Farlow of Chesapeake; one brother, George Lawrence "Jim" Crawley and his wife Jan of Mesa, AZ; her sister-in-law, Lois Crawley of Norfolk; sister-in-law and husband, Ann and Joe Abbott of Norfolk; brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Pat Butt of Davidson, NC; sisters law and wife, Robert and Pat Butt of Davidson, NC; sisters-in-law, Margaret Trott Trott of Columbiana, Ohio, and Ruth Ribaudo of Virginia Beach; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mom will be laid to rest next to her loving husband who awaits her arrival with open arms to have the first dance. Mom, you deserve to rest; go sing and dance until your heart's content. We will miss you and your bright blue eyes, sweet nature and beautiful smile. You were always the "life" of any party. You have left us with many treasured memories. A graveside service will be held today at 3 pm in Elmwood Cemetery, Norfolk. Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Drive Chapel, is handling arrangements.
