A South Norfolk native, he was the son of the late William Thomas and Mrs. Nannie White Abbott. He was a member of Odd Fellows Lodge No. 70 and the Willie Lee Lodge, Knights of Pythias. In addition to his wife, Mrs. Bernetta Lane Abbott, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Charlotte Abbott Floyd; two sons, Walter B. Jr. and Byron E., all of South Norfolk; four brothers, Cecil C. of Chesapeake Beach; Alfred and William E., both of Jacksonville, Fla., and Sheldon R., of South Norfolk. The body was removed to Graham Funeral Home where funeral services will be conducted tomorrow at 2 p.m. Burial will be in Magnolia Cemetery.
