He was a native of Burnt Mills, N.C., and had made his home in this section 50 years and was well known and esteemed. He was a son of Alfred and Margaret Kelly Abbott and is survived by his wife, Mrs. Mae Rodgers Abbott; one daughter, Mrs. James S. Dews; a sister, Mrs. Jannie Whitehurst; two brothers, Charles F. Abbott, a member of the South Norfolk City Council, and Ruffus Abbott, and two grandchildren. Mr. Abbott was a member of Chesapeake Avenue Methodist Church. The body was taken to the Graham Funeral Home, Jackson and Jefferson streets, South Norfolk, pending funeral arrangements.
