The Norfolk Virginian Pilot November 26, 1949 
Joseph Owen Abdell, Jr., 69, died in a Norfolk hospital Friday at 10:30 a.m. 
after an illness of one week. He was the son of Mrs. Nannie Lovitt Salyer and 
the late Joseph O. Abdell. He was a lifelong resident of Norfolk, making his 
home with his mother at 1341 East Ocean View Avenue.
Besides his mother, he is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be conducted in the James V. Derry Funeral Chapel Sunday 
at 3:30 p.m. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery.
