Ledger-Dispatch September 28, 1918
The funeral of Lawrence Abdell, the four-year-old son of Mr. and Mrs. C. G. Abdell 
and grandson of Mrs. S. E. Salyer, of 719 Maltby avenue, who was run over and 
killed Wednesday by a motor truck of the Newport News Hide & Tallow Co., was held 
at the grave yesterday, Rev. Sparks W. Melton, D.D., of Freemason Street Baptist 
church officiating. The remains were buried in Elmwood cemetery.
