Norfolk Landmark November 29, 1887

                         An Ex-Confederate Dead

Mr. W.H. Abdell, an ex-Confederate and well known gentleman of this city, died 
at the residence of his mother on the corner of Bank and Wolf Streets yesterday 
morning from consumption. Mr. Abdell served in the late war in Company H 
(Independent Grays) 6th Virginia Regiment until he became disabled when he 
returned to Norfolk, where he has since  resided except at intervals. He was a 
member of Pickett Buchanan Camp, who will attend his funeral which will take 
place from Christ P.E. Church today at 3 o'clock
