George Mitchell Ackaway, 70, retired barber and husband of Mrs. Birdie Zoby 
Ackaway, and son of the late Mitchell and Mrs. Mary Haddad Ackaway, died today 
at 4 a.m. at a Norfolk hospital.

Ackaway was a native of Lebanon and had been a resident of Norfolk for 58 
years, lately residing at 332 E. Evans St.

Besides his wife, he is survived by two sons, George M. Ackaway, Jr. and 
Mishell Joseph Ackaway, and a daughter, Mrs. Lewis Copeland, all of Norfolk and 
nine grandchildren.

The rosary will be recited at the H.D. Oliver Funeral Apartments Friday at 7:30 
p.m.  A funeral service will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church 
Saturday at 10 a.m.  Burial will be in St. Mary's Cemetery.
