Ackiss, Sr., a well known farmer of Oceana, Princess Anne County, died at his home yesterday afternoon at 4:30 o'clock. His death was sudden. Mr. Ackiss was a native of Princess Anne County and was a veteran of the war between the States. He was a member of the Pickett-Buchanan Camp, United Confederate Veterans. He was 77 years old. Surviving him are his wife; fours sons, Harrison S. Ackiss and William H. Ackiss, Jr., of Norfolk, C. Leonard Ackiss, of Boston, Mass. and Ernest L. Ackiss, of Richmond; four daughters, Mrs. Sallie S. Braithwaite, Mrs. R.J. Shipp, Mrs. T.W. Simmons and Miss Myra G. Ackiss, all of Norfolk; a half sister, Mrs. Alice Craft of Pleasant Ridge, Va. Funeral will be held Tuesday at 3 p.m. at the Virginia Beach Baptist Church and interment will be made in the family burying ground at Virginia Beach.
